Cape Cod Museum of Natural History
- The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod, was founded in 1954. Our mission is to encourage and advance understanding of our natural environment through discovery and learning. Three nature trails meander through woodland, salt marsh or on the shore of Cape Cod Bay and guided field walks are offered year round, daily in summer. Lectures and workshops on natural history topics are offered year round, and there are special programs for children, as well as school vacation programs and KidSummer, to engage them in nature. -

Cape Cod Pathways
- The Barnstable County Commissioners and the Cape Cod Commission are working with citizens and organizations from across Cape Cod to create a Capewide network of walking trails. This network is called Cape Cod Pathways. When complete, Cape Cod Pathways will extend from Provincetown to Falmouth and Bourne and provide a connection between the Seashore and the Cape's wooded interior, between the peninsula's historic villages and remaining backcountry. Through the work of many volunteers and civic and environmental leaders, the Pathways east-west trail between Provincetown and the upper Cape is approximately now one-third dedicated. -

Cape Cod Rail Trail
- The Cape Cod Rail Trail follows a former railroad right-of-way for 22 miles through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet. Its paved surface, few hills, and well-marked automobile crossings make it ideal for cyclists. The trail has a wide unpaved shoulder on one side to accommodate horseback riding, walkers, and runners. -

Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge
Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) was established in 1995 to preserve and protect natural resources associated with the Waquoit Bay area for the protection of waterfowl and protection of wildlife. Located in the towns of Mashpee and Falmouth, this refuge will total 5,871 acres when complete, only a small percentage of which will be owned by the Fish and Wildlife Service. Currently, 335 acres are in FWS ownership. Managed through a unique partnership among nine Federal, State and private conservation groups, this Cape Cod refuge preserves thousands of acres of magnificent salt marshes, cranberry bogs, Atlantic white cedar swamps, freshwater marshes, and a vernal pool.
